TV Catchup, the service which supplies high quality online streaming of several UK television channels, have just introduced a stand alone desktop application to view their service.
The devoted Adobe Air app can be run on Windows, Mac OSX or Linux as well as replaces the requirement to run a browser whilst supplying a lot more functionality. See the rest of the screenshots after the jump..
TVCatchup started life as a fantastically beneficial online PVR however the fun ran out all as well soon when legal hurdles required the service to shut down.
Since starting up once again as a streaming only service we’ve wondered if the recording abilities would ever return. Well, while this hotly anticipated desktop player is still extremely much in beta, TVC have guaranteed to bring a recording facility in a future version.
As an extra benefit the Desktop player adds some new channels – up from the 18 currently provided with the web site to 24 in the standalone player (see channel listing below).
Channels currently offered – BBC One, BBC Two, ITV 1, channel 4, FIVE, ITV 2, five USA, E4, ITV 3, ITV 4, a lot more 4, BBC Three, BBC Four, Dave, Fiver, film 4, BBC News, CBBC, CITV, E4 +1, Dave Ja Vu, ITV2 +1, Yesterday, BBC Parliament
